The Birth of a New ‘Generation’

scrapbook-generations.jpgSometimes the seeds of brand loyalty are sown in fairly subtle ways. For Bill and Dawn Patric of Newburyport, Massachusetts, such a modest moment came roughly seven years ago when they were tent camping with their two young daughters in what turned into a driving rainstorm. With water gradually pooling inside an overwhelmed tent one evening, Dawn kept hearing a popping noise that was clearly audible above the sound of the rain beating down on their leaking, saturated roof. Inquiring if her husband knew the source of the sound, Bill quickly replied that it was the rain hitting a nearby pop up trailer – a secure, waterproof, pop up trailer. Needless to say, that was the last time the Patric's went tent camping.

"Not long after that experience, we went to an RV show in Maine and found a Jayco camping trailer we really loved,” said Bill. “We went back home to find a dealer in Massachusetts and purchased a pop up that we were impressed with and was really affordable."

As much as the Patric's enjoyed their step up in the camping world, they quickly desired a more spacious camping experience for their growing children. Even given their short ownership of the camping trailer, the Patric's kept their search targeted to one manufacturer – Jayco – before eventually purchasing a Jay Feather travel trailer – which they have owned for the last four years.

While content with their Jay Feather, the couple continues to dream about what lies ahead in their assent up the RV product ladder. Even Dawn admits to checking out the Jayco website at least once a week and Bill confesses to having various pieces of Jayco brochures scattered throughout the house.

"Right now, we have our eye on a Class C motorhome," Bill acknowledges. "In fact, when we drive down to Florida for vacation later this year, we’ve already scouted out a dealer we plan to visit during the trip."

A Jayco dealer no doubt? "We won't buy anything else."
